REDcert – Your partner for sustainability certifications


REDcert offers certification schemes for sustainable biomass, biofuels and bioliquids (REDcert-EU) as well as sustainable agricultural raw materials for use in the food/feed industry and biomass for material purposes respectively material purposes in the chemical industry (REDcert²). REDcert's philosophy is to support the scheme participants in the implementation of sustainability certification and offer practically oriented schemes.

Do you have different raw materials but only want a single sustainability certification scheme? REDcert has various solutions requiring only one audit which allows you to supply your raw materials to all markets.

The REDcert schemes are applicable to all economic operators in the respective value chain. REDcert’s activities related to the implementation of sustainability requirements mainly focus on Germany and Europe.

REDcert certification for renewable fuels of non-biogenic origin (RFNBOs) and recycled carbon fuels (RCFs) receives favourable assessment from the EU Commission

The European Commission has recognised the scheme principles submitted by REDcert for the certification of renewable fuels of non-biogenic origin (RFNBOs) and recycled carbon fuels (RCFs) confirmed as ‘technically compliant’ (see EU-KOM website). Now only the formal recognition is pending in order to start the certification process.

REDcert certification for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) and recycled carbon fuels (RCF): Recognition by the European Commission is imminent

Based on Delegated Regulations (EU) 2023/1184 and 2023/1185, REDcert has developed specific requirements for the certification of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs) and recycled carbon fuels (RCFs) and submitted them to the European Commission (EU Commission) for recognition in August 2023.

With the entry into force of the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/996, the requirements of the REDcert-EU scheme were revised and confirmed by the European Commission. This will result in changes for both scheme participants and certification bodies.

An overview of the most important changes and the current REDcert-EU scheme principles as well as other corresponding documents can be found here.
