NUTS2 tool installed for Poland
NUTS2 values can also be used as an alternative to calculated values or default values for GHG emissions for the cultivation of biomass. These values are specified in gCO2eq/kg of dry matter content and can be found in the “Overview table on regional cultivation emissions (NUTS values)” at https://ec.europa.eu/energy/en/topics/renewable-energy/biofuels.
REDcert has developed a tool for the Polish first gathering points which makes it possible to determine the NUTS2 regions in Poland and the associated GHG emissions for cultivation with just a few clicks. Only the GHG emissions for the crops rapeseed, wheat and maize are currently available. But more crops may follow. The only thing you need to know is the car license plate prefix of the cultivation region.
To find the NUTS2 region with the associated GHG value, please go to www.redcert.org and click the NUTS2 tool button on the left side. A window then opens where you can see the GHG values for rapeseed, maize and wheat in gCO2EQ/kg of dry matter content.
1. To start, please click on the sample start page of the NUTS tool shown below.
2. Enter the car license plate prefix and then click "Search". The respective NUTS2 region and the respective NUTS2 values for various biomass types are displayed.
3. If you want to search for several car license plate prefixes, please click "Add" and then "Search". The NUTS2 values for the respective car license plate prefix and the ʺMAX valueʺ for the selected regions are then displayed in the results table.

Using the emission factor for methanol
In its most recent recommendation, the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (Bundeanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung - BLE) indicated that the certification schemes it recognises must adopt the use of the emission factor for methanol (incl. combustion emissions) into the scheme requirements for greenhouse gas calculation of biodiesel in the subsection on page 5 of the note from the EU Commission ("NOTE ON THE CONDUCTING AND VERIFYING ACTUAL CALCULATIONS OF GHG EMISSION SAVINGS VERSION 2.0") by
01.01. 2018.
During a transition period until 01.01.2018, participants in the REDcert-DE scheme with an existing DE certificate may use a methanol factor excluding the combustion emissions for the greenhouse gas balance.
If a REDcert participant switches to the REDcert-DE scheme, a complete inspection audit must take places no later than 6 months after the initial certification in accordance with §§ 49 of the German Sustainability Ordinances (BiokraftNachV and BioStNachV).
Starting on 01.01.2018, all REDcert-DE scheme participants must change over to the methanol factor incl. combustion factors for greenhouse gas balancing.
